SYDNEY SOUTH-BOUND Port Congestion Surcharge
Dear Valued Customer,
Sydney port continues to experience heavy congestion causing frequent delays. Whilst this already disadvantages your customers, shipping lines/carriers/shipping agents themselves continue to suffer loss of revenue, along with increased costs for the movement of both full and empty containers. It is common across all shipping lines/carriers/shipping agents that all NVOCC/Freight Forwarders have begun to see immediately the introduction of an import ¡°Port Congestion Surcharge¡±, basically to the value of A$100 per TEU. Each shipping lines/carriers/shipping agents is introducing the fee at varying dates between now and the third week of November.
Please note that as a direct result of their decision, Macnels Singapore (and it¡¯s related offices as from www.macnels.com) together with our Sydney discharge port partners will be required to pass on these costs accordingly for full containers of A$100.00 / TEU, and at the rate of A$5.00 W/M for LCL cargo.
